EPFC workshop at Aquaculture Europe 2023

Traditionally the European Percid Fish Culture group will organize a workshop the first day of EAS2023. During this event you will be able to expand your network and exchange knowledge on fresh water percid fish culture worldwide. 

Program

14:00 Welcome by Stefan Teerlinck.

14:20 Prof. Dr. Pascal Fontaine (Université de Lorraine), "How can we optimize fish and plant diversity to improve pikeperch production in RAS and aquaponics". An Interreg project proposal hopefully on his way to approval. 

14:40 Fabiola Mustafaj (ASC), presenting the ASC pike-perch module (Sander lucioperca). 

15:00: Small break 

15:15: Cristina Anghel Mills (Sales Representative & Business Development Bionomous). AquaSorter: automation and quality sorting tools for the aquaculture industry". We are developing a device to screen, sort and dispense fish eggs between 0.5mm and 2mm and we are looking for early-adopters and beta testers.

15:35: David Nusbaumer (AKYmed Sàrl). Optimisation of percid fish breeding practices: from sperm quality to genomic selection.This presentation will cover services that AKYmed offers for the optimisation of fertility, the management of males gametes, and the promotion and safeguarding of genetic diversity in percid fish culture. The following topics will be presented: computer assisted sperm analysis (CASA) with Qualisperm, sperm short term storage, sperm cryopreservation, genomic selection for inbreeding avoidance.

15:55: Stefan Teerlinck (Inagro), "Development of a low dense snip-panel for pikeperch (Sander lucioperca)".

16:15: Closure of the workshop with a drink.
